Road trip: East Coast to West Coast

It's been a journey. 6 days, 8 states, 2921 miles! Many different landscapes and many more stories to tell. This road trip meant so much more than simply traveling/ exploring new places. We've seen and learned more than we had expected.



Check out my suggestions on the main things to do in the cities we visited, from the East Coast to West Coast:


Starting Point: Miami, FL

Day 1: Tallahassee, FL Driving Time from Miami: 7 hours

Main Attractions:

  • Cascades Park

  • Florida State Capitol Building

  • Museum of Florida History

  • FSU

  • Railroad Square Art Park

To Eat/Drink:

  • Andrew's Capital Grill & Bar

  • Proof Brewing Company

Day 2: New Orleans, LA Driving time from Tallahassee: 6 hours

Main Attractions:

  • French Quarter

  • Bourbon Street

  • Frenchman Art Market

  • Jackson Square

  • Streetcars

  • Riverwalk

  • Harrah's Casino

To Eat/Drink:

  • Cafe Beignet

  • Cafe Du Monde

Must try: Beignets (fresh fried dough topped with confectioners' sugar) Hurricane (sweet drink made of rum and fruit juices)

Day 3: Dallas, TX Driving time from New Orleans: 8 hours

Main Attractions:

  • Reunion Tower

  • Museums

  • John F. Kennedy Memorial

  • Dallas Arboretum and Gardens

To Eat/Drink:

  • Traditional Texas BBQ

Day 4: Albuquerque, NM Driving Time from Dallas: 10 hours

Main Attractions:

  • US Route 66

  • Sandia Peak Tramway

  • Intl Balloon Fiesta & Balloon rides

  • "Breaking Bad" filming location tours

Day 5: Phoenix, AZ Driving Time from Albuquerque: 7 hours

Main Attractions:

  • Hole in the Rock

  • Camelback Mountain

  • Japanese Friendship Garden

  • Roosevelt Row Art District

  • Hikings

To Eat/Drink:

  • Cibo Pizzeria

  • Mother Bunch Brewing

Day 6: End of the line at Huntington Beach, CA Driving Time from Phoenix: 6 hours

Places worth visiting off of I-10 West:

  • Palm Springs

  • Salton Sea

  • Borrego Springs

  • Joshua Tree National Park
